Kinetic Crowned UK Champions at National Robotics Finals
Pupils from King Henry VIII School are celebrating after the school’s Year 7 robotics team, Kinetic, were crowned UK Champions at the national finals in Telford.
After competing successfully in regional events earlier in the season, the team – Max, Gilbert, Isaac, Aiden and Nikhil were invited to take part in the prestigious two-day national tournament, where the top 20 teams from across the UK gathered to compete.
Following 12 qualifying matches, Kinetic delivered a series of strong performances to secure their place in the final as the second seed. With the championship on the line, the team held their nerve and produced a near-perfect run, scoring an impressive 144 points.
Only the top-seeded team remained between Kinetic and the national title. However, the pressure of the moment, combined with technical issues, limited their rivals to a score of 53, securing the championship for the King Henry team.
The victory marks a fantastic achievement for the Year 7 pupils, whose dedication, teamwork and hours of practice paid off on the national stage. With the trophy heading back to Coventry once again, Kinetic’s success is a proud moment for the entire school community.
